Barcelona International Jazz Festival Founded in 1988 by Tito Ramoneda and Joan Roselló, Barcelona Jazz Festival  has consolidated its position as a leading promoter of shows, large-scale events and also corporate event organizer. The Barcelona Jazz Festival organises more than 300 productions and events a year which are attended by more than 500,000 spectators and more than 3,000 international concerts covering a broad range of musical styles. The Project plans and coordinates different festivals such as the Barcelona International Jazz Festival, the festival of Afro-American gospel music Els Grans del Gospel (Gospel Greats), the Barcelona Guitar Festival and the flamenco festival De Cajón!

It has produced shows such as Loungta and Triptyk (by Théâtre Cíngaro), Quidam and Alegría, (by Cirque du Soleil), along with concerts and tours featuring leading artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Diana Krall, Caetano Veloso, Woody Allen, El Canto del Loco, B.B. King, Serrat, Estopa, Keith Jarrett, Bebo Valdés and El Cigala, Maná, Gilberto Gil, Silvio Rodríguez, Santana, Madredeus and Joaquín Sabina. Barcelona Jazz Festival also manages large-scale corporate events such as IBM’s World Convention, El Periódico’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Toyota’s European Convention, and the Antonio Asensio Awards for Journalism. There will also be master classes taught by professional artists. The concerts will include music and dance. You need to buy tickets for each concert individually, as they don‘t sell one ticket which is good for all the concerts.

The Barcelona International Jazz Festival is of Europe”s premier jazz events with world class performers playing over 75 concerts in 2011. The Barcelona jazz festival takes place in fifteen different venues in Barcelona, including L’Auditori, Sala Bikini, Jamboree, the Palau de la Música and the Harlem Jazz Club. Furthermore, the parallel music cycle “Finestra”, the festival offers a series of shows that outside from the jazz genre. In 2011 the BCN jazz festival collaborates with the legendary Italian Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia to present “top Italian jazz” with names like pianist Stefano Bollani and trumpeters Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu performing in Barcelona. Barcelona Jazz Festival features bands and artists from all over the world. This year, it will be held from October 20 through December 1. There will be 75 concerts at various concert halls in Barcelona including L’Auditori , Sala Bikini , Jamboree, the Palau de la Música and the Harlem Jazz Club. There will be free prologue concerts as well as jazz and gastronomy concerts which will include wine tasting, cocktails and dinners.

This will be the 43rd year that Barcelona has hosted this festival. Attendance has increased every year. It is held to promote the world of jazz. There is a wide range of music that will be performed, so you can easily find a concert that you will like. This year the 50th anniversary of the release of Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” will be celebrated at the festival, and many international stars will be there. Also this year, the concerts will include best-jazz-vocal Grammy winner Cassandra Wilson at the Palau on November 13. They will also include Chick Corea, Gary Burton, The Blind Boys of Alabama, an American gospel group, and many other prestigious artists.
