La Barceloneta is a beach and neighborhood in the Ciutat Vella of Barcelona, it was urbanized during the 18th century for the Ribera residents after being displaced by the construction of the Ciudadela of Barcelona. Barceloneta is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Moll d’Espanya of Port Vell and the El Born district. Barceloneta has its own Metro stop also as a Tramway terminal.

Barceloneta has been elected by Discovery Channel as the best urban beach in the World and the third best beach in the World.

Barceloneta has sandy beach and many restaurants and nightclubs along the boardwalk. Over the past several years the quality of the sand on the beach became worse and a subject of critic by some health organizations.

With1,100 m of length, Barceloneta beach is one of the biggest in Barcelona, Spain, and it is also one of the oldest and most traditional beaches in the city.

The beach dimensions make it a suitable beach for leisure and sports, as volleyball, a table soccer area, a children’s play area, also as ping-pong tables, a gym and skating area.
