Casa de Les Altures in Barcelona
The neo-Arabic “House of Heights’ was originally constructed as part of the city’s Water Board and its central area held engines that pumped water to the peak of Turo de la Rovira. After renovations in 1991 by Victor Argenti, this airy,cool delight of Barcelona architecture now opens internally onto a courtyard surrounded by white porches which maintain its Arabic influence. Barcelona was voted by National Geographic as being the best beach city in the world. Barcelona has a few beaches, but Barceloneta is the one closest to the city centre. Its Mediterranean coastline was majorly revitalized for the 1992 Olympics and boasts some of the best features an urban beach can offer.

Barcelona Barri Gotic
The Barri Gotic is a small area of winding streets and narrow alleyways. It can be easy to get lost, so consider taking a guided walking tour. A word of warning: this area (and Las Ramblas) is notorious for pickpockets. Keep a careful eye on your belongings.

La Boqueria and Santa Caterina Markets
Strolling through local markets on our travels is as much a form of sightseeing as it is a shopping trip or another chance to eat out. Taking in the dazzling displays of freshly-caught seafood and fish, gills scarlet and scales glistening, the kaleidoscope of colours that are the exhibits of fresh fruit and vegetables that smell like they’ve just been picked. La Boqueria is one of the most well-known markets of Barcelona. Also known as ´ El Mercat de Sant Josep,´ La Boqueria ´s central passageway is very colorful and the food is always fresh, with seafood being a popular choice. The market can often be quite busy, especially around lunch time. Barcelona Parks
Barcelona is also home to many beautiful parks. Montjuic is the largest of the parks and rests on the picturesque mountain with which it shares a name. The Parliament building is located in another park, the Parc de la Ciutadella. Also found in this park is the must-see Barcelona Zoo, which gained fame as the home of Snowflake, the world’s only albino gorilla. Also noteworthy is the Labyrinth Park, so named for its winding, fragrant, and gorgeous garden maze.
