Winter weather in Prague Before Winter: an Atmosphere to Admire not to Fear

Posted October 13, 2009 by King Wenceslas

In this time of year it feels like in November or December and this weather will dominate in the Czech Republic during the coming days. Meteorologists are talking about big clouds with precipitation,
which can be heavy and freezing with strong wind, mainly in the mountains.

Temperatures on Monday 12th of October did not exceed 12 degrees Celsius, it was cloudy with rain or showers and in the mountains could start to snowing soon, that means about two or three weeks earlier than the usual snow. On Tuesday, morning temperatures fell four degrees to zero, while at higher elevations still two degrees cooler. On the mountains should continue to snow. Daily temperatures between four and eight. A very similar weather should continue in the second half of the week, which is similar to the average temperatures of November and December.

But on the other hand this is a favorite period for tourists, mainly in Prague as cool autumn breezes turn trees on the surrounding hills into a multicolored ornament for the Old Town and Prague Castle. The city is more romantic and the prices for accommodation in Prague hotels and apartments are much better.

The real lovers of Prague’s mysticism should come to visit the city in its cold months, maybe it sounds strange but this is the right period to enjoy Prague as an old nostalgic medieval city, an atmosphere that makes it unique. Take a romantic walk on Charles Bridge or sit in a cafe tasting your hot drink and plan your evening in Prague, you will have a great choice of cultural events in the State Opera, the Ballet, the National Theatre, the Laterna Magika, the Czech Philharmonics or Prague’s Symphony Orchestra and many other activities of Prague nightlife.
